Krishak Bondhu Scheme:WB Government Increases Farmer Distribution Annually for farmers from Rs.5000 to Rs. 10000

 The West Bengal Cabinet has decided to increase the annual budget for each farmer under the "Krishak Bondhu" program. Previously it was Rs. 5000, now upgraded to Rs. 1, 0000.

The decision comes a day after Baratiya Kisan Union leader Rakesh Tikait called on Prime Minister Mamata Banerjee that West Bengal should serve as an example while urging it to give farmers more profit.

At the launch of the Krishak Bondhu Scheme, Prime Minister Mamata Banerjee had said farmers would receive Rs. 5000 per year. However, he has now announced that the share of each farmer under the subsidy scheme will double.

The official said, “In 2018, the West Bengal government has launched the Krishak Bondhu program which continued to be a nationwide program. And after this, Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana was introduced. By comparison, the government system is better as it offers more benefits to farmers. Unlike PMKSNY, the Krishak Bondhu program provides assistance to farmers who own less than one hectare of land. ”

According to sources, the government wants to focus on the "Krishak Bondhu" program as an important and beneficial farmers' scheme that can serve as a model for all provinces.

Hike in allocation for Farmers having Less than One-acre Land 

The decision to increase shares in the allocation comes after the institution announced the increase in Minimum Support Price of Kharif Crops.With the adoption of the CM's proposal to increase the number of farmers, Cabinet also decided to release Rs. 4000 per year for farmers with less than one hectare of land, which was Rs. 2000 earlier.
